Genco is live.
Anyone can download the app. Creating an account is what requires an invitation, from someone already inside.
Downloading isn’t joining. Genco is currently distributed directly as an APK rather than through Google Play.

Most messaging apps are built to connect you with more people. Genco starts with the people you already know. And because those conversations are personal, the whole thing is built around keeping them that way.
Your conversations.
Your messages are encrypted before they leave your phone. The server carries the encrypted message to the person you’re talking to. It doesn’t have the keys required to read it.
Your identity.
Your identity starts with twelve words. They’re generated on your phone and never leave it. No phone number. No email address. No OTP. Genco doesn’t keep a copy.
The important part isn’t one privacy setting.
It’s who can find you, who can reach you, and what the server is allowed to know.

The server carries messages. It doesn’t hold the keys.
Messages are encrypted on your devices before they leave them. The server sees the encrypted data required to deliver them, not the conversation itself.
Your conversations are encrypted end-to-end.
Genco uses Matrix’s established end-to-end encryption. Your devices hold the keys needed to decrypt your conversations. The server does not.
You can check who you’re talking to.
When you first connect with someone, Genco gives you a way to verify that you’re talking to the device you expect. Compare once. Then you know who you’re talking to.

Genco doesn’t have an open signup. Every account starts with an invitation from someone already inside. There is no public registration page.
No one discovers Genco and simply creates an account. Someone has to decide you should be here.
Private to the world · Accountable to each other
BEING HERE DOESN’T GIVE EVERYONE ACCESS TO YOU.
Being a member of Genco doesn’t automatically make you reachable. There is no searchable directory. Knowing someone’s phone number isn’t enough. If someone wants to start a conversation with you, Genco gives you a say in whether they can.
Your identity tells Genco who you are. Your membership says you belong. Your reach code decides who gets a way to reach you.

Genco doesn’t use your phone number as your identity. It doesn’t need your email address either. When you join, your phone generates twelve words. They are the root of your Genco identity. They stay with you. Genco never receives the twelve words themselves.
